When will driving tests start again?
Well today we have an answer and it could be from 12th April 2021
The government has published the ‘COVID-19 Response – Spring 2021’, setting out the roadmap out of the current lockdown for England. In Stage 2 which it states will begin no earlier than 12th April, it states:
“110. Additional premises will be able to reopen but should only be visited alone or with household groups: non-essential retail; personal care premises such as hairdressers, salons and close contact services; and indoor leisure facilities such as gyms and spas (but not including saunas and steam rooms, which are due to open at Step 3). Overnight stays away from home in this country will be permitted and self-contained accommodation – those that do not require shared use of bathing, entry/exit, catering or sleeping facilities – can also reopen, though must only be used by members of the same household. The Government will open public buildings such as libraries and community centres. Activities such as driving tests may also resume. “
This really is fantastic news and if I am honest earlier than we expected. We are still awaiting confirmation from the DVSA of this news and will of course update you as soon as we know. Demand for driving tests is expected to be very high and last time we came out of lockdown the DVSA website to book your driving test crashed.
Many learners may have driving tests booked already and only had limited practise with people in their own bubble over the Lockdown period. If you are one of those and live in the Northampton area you might like to consider booking a Mock Test or Driving Assessment before your test to find out how you are doing and if there are any areas you need to work on.
If you are already a learner with Driving Skills Academy we will be in touch with you as soon as we can confirm when your lessons or driving tests can go ahead but the wait is certainly almost over 🙂
